Afan Nedd Girls Rugby

A small group of girls (under 11’s and 13’s) have been training on a Tuesday night at Court Herbert under the guidance of Sian Moore (Michael Dyer) and this coming Tuesday (29th) they’ll be playing conditioned games against similar groups from Bridgend and Swansea. The session starts at 5.30pm so girls are asked to arrive at 5.15pm.

More girls are required and anyone interested can turn up on the night or at future training sessions. At present all training sessions are scheduled on Tuesday evenings (5.30pm -6.30pm) at Court Herbert, Neath Sports Centre.

Neath Athletic RFC Girls Rugby Taster Day

Neath Athletic RFC Girls Rugby Taster Day Saturday 3rd July at Neath sports Centre, Court Herbert. 10am until 1pm For all ages from 11 years old to senior ladies.

Rugby stations will be set up for players to experience a variety of skills during the day. Osprey players will be on hand for advise and information.

Girls’ National Skills Day

This event is open to all players under the age of 18 and of all abilities.

Anyone wishing to attend must complete the attached application form (BELOW) and return to Nicola Smith – nsmith@wru.co.uk – by Friday 2nd July 2010.

Players should wear appropriate rugby clothing, bring any protective equipment, a packed lunch, plenty to drink and sun block.

Girls Ospreys Player Pathway Bridgend Rugby Development Centre U11s – U13s

• Training for both of these age groups will take place at Pyle RFC on Tuesdays (first session on Tuesday 8th June) 5pm-6pm. We will be running matches against Swansea and Afan Nedd over the Summer period.

In order to put girls rugby on a more solid footing the rugby development officers in the Ospreys region have come up with a plan for development centres for girls at under 11’s and 13’s. The idea behind the scheme is to provide girls with the opportunity to develop alongside their peers in a girls-only environment.

The sessions are open to anyone of the appropriate age and no previous experience of rugby will be required. Each centre will be staffed by experienced coaches who hold valid CRB’s.

The plan for each centre is to hold three coaching sessions over a three week period, and then on the forth week a festival will be organised between the three centres. At the end of August the plan will be reviewed and participants will be informed on the best way forward.
